CHASSIS MOD:
PREPERATION:
Do this so that if in the future you need to replace the fan or disc drive (parts or whole) you don't need to fully disassemble the PS4 Pro. Meaning you will not need to re-paste the APU or install new thermal pads onto the RAM or APU VRM chips.
- Install all four screws that secure the fan into the main plastic housing.
- Using a 5 or 6mm drill enlarge the two holes in the metal heatsink side chassis part that would originally secure the chassis to the fan and plastic housing.
- Then Assemble the PS4 Pro as you normally would.
Next time when you need to replace the fan or disc drive (parts or whole) disassemble the PS4 Pro as normal except:
- Remove the power supply
- Then after that only remove the large torque screws holding the metal chassis parts and motherboard to the main plastic housing.
- Then lay the PS4 Pro on your lap, table or somewhere flat with the PlayStation oriented as it would be if sitting horizontal.
- Now pull the main plastic housing plastic rear port surrounds gently away from the ps4 front while lifting the front of the PS4 up the motherboard and metal chassis should end up coming away from the main plastic housing.
